Productdesigner

Duration of apprenticeship: 3 ½ years
Requirements: O-level / GCSE

School emphasis: good marks in mathematics, physics, chemistry and German. Good average marks in general subjects
Inclinations and interests: spatial sense, understanding of technical functions.


Apprenticeship course:
1st year:
Structure of the training company. Work safety and environmental protection, industrial safety. Principles of technical drawing: handling of drawing implements and drawing materials; drawing standards, basic geometrical constructions, views, sections, basic terminology of dimensioning. Simple development drawings and intersections. Perspective illustrations. Duplication and archiving procedures. Basic manual material processing skills. Chipping manufacture on machine tools.

2nd year:
Reading and use of technical documents. Basic training in computer-aided drawing (CAD). Material properties and testing of materials. Use of company standards, national and international standards. Basic laws of mechanics, strength of materials and electrical engineering. Tolerance data, surface marking and graphic symbols. Illustration and dimensioning of individual parts and assemblies in individual part drawings or general drawings in accordance with standards and suitable for manufacturing. Design of intersections and development drawings.

3rd/4th year:
Operational organisation and communications technology. Installation of assemblies and machines. Preparation of detailed designs, function schematics, flow charts, installation drawings and piping schematics. Preparation of general and group drawings from individual part drawings, including the associated parts lists.

Work assignment after completion of apprenticeship:
Independent work in plant design and project planning.

Construction mechanic

School emphasis:
mathematics and physics. Good average marks in general subjects


Apprenticeship course:
1st year:
Distinction and appropriate handling of materials (metals, Ni.HT metals) and auxiliary materials (coolants, lubricants). Characteristics of the planning and control of work and movement sequences with subsequent evaluation/checking of the results. Manual chipping work (filing, sawing, chiselling, thread cutting, rubbing). Mechanical chipping  work (drilling, countersinking, turning, milling). Joining of workpieces (by screwed and bolted connections, soldering, fusion welding).

2nd year:
Reading of general drawings taking into account standards and the use of instructions. Forming and separation of sheet metals, pipes and profiles by folding, roller bending, bending and straightening. Consideration of the characteristics when joining workpieces, appropriate storage of individual components and assemblies and subsequent assembly in accordance with the assembly conditions.

3rd/4th year:
  Important considerations when joining (in particular in the case of gas-shielded arc welding / bolting). Construction of pneumatic and hydraulic systems according to schematics and checking of their functional capability. Functional assembly and disassembly of mobile building and equipment constructions. Checking of the interaction of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical assemblies on mobile steel structures or other equipment structures and, if necessary, making ready for operation.

Electronic technician

Duration of apprenticeship: 3 ½ years
Requirements:
GCSE

School emphasis:
mathematics, sciences, design & technology, German. Good average marks in general subjects
Inclinations and interests:
interest and understanding of electro-technical, electronic and mechanical interrelationships. Manual skills, care and perseverance.

Apprenticeship course:
1st year:
Basic training in manual and mechanical material processing as well as connection techniques; trimming, laying and connection of electrical cables. Assembly, wiring and testing of electrical components and assemblies. Measurement technology.

2nd year: Construction, testing, measurement, adjustment and calibration of digital and analog circuits. Assembly, installation and testing of power plants.

3rd/4th year: Commissioning, service and maintenance of electrical systems. Construction and testing of circuits in operations. Programming, commissioning and fault-finding on microcomputer systems and programmable logic controllers.

Work assignment after completion of apprenticeship:
Skilled worker in the manufacturing and maintenance of electrical systems. After successful trial period and appropriate professional experience, assignment as assembler on building sites in Germany and abroad.
